Docbar
Hey Guys, So I got a new car, it's a 99 mercury mountainer V6. I have a soundstream 12 inch sub and a soundstream amp to power it. I plan on a ported box and some 1/0 guage wire. Nothing to fancy just a simple setup. My questions are: Is there a rca jack in the back of the factory radio foir my rca's? I will be running no more than 1500 watts rms, so should I do some major upgrades to my electrical system? Any body with the same car that may have some tips for me about removing the factory radio..... ect? Thanks guys If i was unclear just let me know, I would be happy to explain/ ask more haha Scott Quote 1995 Jeep Yj Rubicon Express Lift BFG Tires Warn 9000lbs Winch KC offroad lights 1999 Mercury Mountaineer (need to install) 12in Sub Soundstream Amp 1/0 wire 4 Channle Amp Replace the factory head unit
Chrisn077
Most factory radios don't have RCA outputs, most likely you will need to use the high level input if it came with your amp. Quote 18" DC Level
00_XJ
Factory radios usually don't come with RCA jacks so you'll have to buy an adapter. You'll probably need to replace your battery under the hood and maybe a smaller one in the back, and the big 3 of course for 1500 watts, depending on your eletrical. RamenNoodles
I would replace your stock battery with a kinetik 1400 or 1800 if you can fit it. ANd do the big 3. I recommend this no matter what size stereo you have. Quote Diablo Audio Technologies Fi Car Audio Ascendant Audio
Docbar
thanks guys Is a high level input the same thing as a line output? I am trying to make my factory radio have rca jacks for my amp. What do I need? No don't worry bout "high level inputs" some amps have them some don't just get a line output converter from any place and splice it into your rear left speaker line then run the RCA's from it to your amp, don't forget to run the remote turn-on lead. Low voltage doesn't blow amps. That's a myth. A router that does the sub holes makes rounded edges also?

Dont worry I wont forget the remote turn on line haha, thanks for the info man, But does the line output thing have to be spliced into the rear left speaker wire or can it go into any of them?
