dwz Posted April 23, 2009 Report Share Posted April 23, 2009 (edited) You're probably pushing too much power to them and playing them for too long... They heat up from extended use. Just let them cool down, don't keep playing them. I drove around for 4-5 hours with max power and bass boost and that's what did it. Also make sure if you have the heat on it's not going directly to the back of the car. It's normal for them to smell - that's how you know when to stop. But don't ignore it like I did. I've already blown two subs. Note: I forgot to mention, one of the subs I blew was from playing at max volume (well, max gains/bass boost also) when it was around 20 degrees outside from a snowstorm, as soon as I started the car I played them.
