make sure you clean the metal with some alcohol or something pretty good.

then wipe it dry.

You really are missing the point of dampening, forget it about it not sticking for a moment, the problem is under low heat the mat changes its dampening characteristics and makes it a weak deadener because the rubber/asphalt is changing its form

But to say just glue it on, is a complete waste time, you will no be happy with the results, I may as well glue poop to the walls and get the same effect, both bad dampening and shitty smell. lol
