milesmiles
Hi guys, I made a video about my problem. It'll only make noise, which is horrible at that, after you turn the gain up high enough. Setup: Subwoofer - JL Audio 10", 150 watt RMS Amplifier - Dayton 240 watt, 4 ohms stable Source - MacBook Pro, 3.5 mm stereo jack to RCA plugs Situation: The subwoofer intermittently started making that noise a few days ago, now it can do nothing but that. I have already isolated the problem as the RCA connectors (not the cables because I already tried two sets), or the amplifier. Any help would be greatly appreciated. milesmiles
Sorry I forgot to say, the sub itself is fine, I was able to run it off another receiver.
milesmiles
Also I'm not even using tinsel lead, the sub itself came in a box, so I'm just using stripped wire coming out of the amplifier and running it into the screw clamps (or whatever you call them). fischy fisch
so it work fine on another revicer and youve got screw terminals holding you wire on to the sub Quote lol. but i haven't and i don't plan on it. plus i'd probably miss and hit her belly button or her ear or something. lol. milesmiles
That's correct. The problem started a few days ago, it started only being able to make that sound and I was able to fix it by jiggling the RCA's. That doesn't fix it anymore. milesmiles
Well it can't be the wires because I already tried two sets. Is it something wrong with the connectors on the amplifier?
milesmiles
Alright, I believe it is not the RCA's. I just hooked up the low level outputs to the other receiver and the signal is fine. What could it be then?
milesmiles
Yessss, I got it working again. I just had to strip some more wire off, I guess a few strands had fallen out.
