I wouldnt turn it up all the way do the procedure where you turn the deck up to 3/4 then turn the gain till you here distorting then back it off a bit, than way when your gain is all the way up on your remote gain, it will be seeing what you set back at the amp, if you just max out the gain in the back sure you can back it off with the remote gain, but if that gain comes unplugged for anyreason then poof max gain power sent to your subs.
