mxman38 Posted May 28, 2009 Report Posted May 28, 2009 Ok i want to use bolts instead of speaker terminals, and instead of running the wires through the port. How... well i know i should use 2 bolts per sub, but what kind of bolt conducts better, and also, what kind of crimp should i use for an 8 AWG wire?
Neo_frog Posted May 28, 2009 Report Posted May 28, 2009 You'll be fine using regular aluminum bolts. If you insist on having superconductive bolts, you can spend a pretty penny on copper bolts or threaded rod. And crimps? You can just buy some 8 gauge ring terminals to go over the bolt and use a nut/lock washer or wing nut to hold it on. Make sure the bolt head is inside the box so you have easy access to the nuts outside in the event vibration shakes it loose. Need an install? Hit me up.[email protected]Got car audio questions? cnate777 Posted May 28, 2009 Report Posted May 28, 2009 Just go to Lowes buy 1/4 or 5/16 bolts depending on how thick I would go with 1.5 in bolts....get 2 washers per bolt and 2 nuts per bolt.....Regular carbon steel bolts are fine....... will cost you about 2 dollars....maybe.......as far as ring terminals go it will also depend on how many voicecoils you have but youo can figure on at least 3 ring terminals per terminal but probably more like 4........solder and then crimp the terminals Should look something like this........ Rockford Fosgate Sundown Audio DC Power Inc XS Autometer Pioneer
