Projector Help Needed

so i been looking at projectors and i decided if im gonna spend $500-$600 on a tv i tihnk i can get a decent projector for that price (i think ) it doesnt have to be the best picture but i want something atleast as good as a standard tv all i really do is watch movies so im not that worried about picture but i know lumens is how bright the picture is and im pretty sure i need atleast a 1200x800 resolution but anyways is this a good projector for the price.its gonna be a dark room its in

I am sure that projector will be fun as a starter. Note it is 800x600 resolution, not 1200x800.

You can get this Sanyo for $479 with much better contrast and still 800x600 resolution:

If you really want something that will be impressive and keep you happy for awhile, spend $750 and get the Epson 700.

Those are just a couple of <$750 true 720p projectors that are nice.
