1976 Silverado
I currently have 4 cvrs 12'' and am going to be making a new box for them. Would these 4 subs be louder then 2 ported l5 12''? they will be powered by the same amp.. and the box for the 4 cvrs will be 4cft.. and if i go ported the 2 l5's will have 4cft aswell.. just wondering which would be louder? i know it depends on alot just saying overall?.. Sorry if this is the wrong place to post this question in.. They will be powered by a bxi2006D hifonics amp @2ohm.

smokeumtires
(4)12 CVRs = 452.36 in^2 Cone Area (2)12 L5s = 288 in^2 Cone Area More cone area = More air being moved More Are Being Moved = More Bass Edit: I would go 4 12s ported. and save up for a 2nd amp Edited June 8, 2009 by smokeumtires
1976 Silverado
2 woofers at twice the power will be louder. ok thanks.. still waiting for more opinions cause i thought it wouldnt matter since the extra 2 subs made up in surface area? LordArcane
so the 4 cvrs would be louder even if i only had all 4 in a 3cft sealed box? 3cft? wow thats kinda small for 4 12's i would think my 2 10's are ideal in 1.6cft sealed box no sure about your subs but just thinking 2 12 prolly be nice at 2cft? so 4 and 4cft? smokeumtires
Sounds like youre suffocating those subs. Try and buil a Ported box for just Two of em.. I bet the output would be like night and day
