brsteinbach
My friend wants me to build him a box and he wants it ported and he wants to have a round port / round ports. The box will be 3.1^3 with a 4" port / ports, I just want to know if 1 port will be enough port area or if I need to put two or three in. shainemcconnell
12-16 in2 of port surface area per 1 cubic foot of box volume...is a pretty good rule of thumb I would think 2 should be ok....remember to try to keep the round ports a full diameter off the inside walls 2010 IDBL Rookie 1 North American Champion 2009 IDBL Rookie 1 Fl State Champion 2009 EBB Fly Weight 3rd Place Fl State Finals 2006 Silver Grand Prix GXP :Diablo Audio Hellfire 1000.1, JL Audio 300/4, One 13W7, ZR650, VR690, JL Cleansweep setup. brsteinbach
Ok thanks, He just wants it for daily and I should have figured to just do the area of a circle. shainemcconnell
Ok thanks, He just wants it for daily and I should have figured to just do the area of a circle. Duhh ha..no problem...I actually just built a box with one 4 inch aero port from precision ports....I compete in rookie 1. so that is all i can have.. I went from a slot port 1 inch by 14 inchs and I increased by nearly 3 db nearly 5 db with my door open. and it sounds much better... 2010 IDBL Rookie 1 North American Champion 2009 IDBL Rookie 1 Fl State Champion 2009 EBB Fly Weight 3rd Place Fl State Finals 2006 Silver Grand Prix GXP :Diablo Audio Hellfire 1000.1, JL Audio 300/4, One 13W7, ZR650, VR690, JL Cleansweep setup. Decaf
12-16sqin is for square or slot more like 8-14 for aero as they move air more efficiently this you dont need as much port surface area supposedly 50% more efficient 2 4" should be great but they will start to get long 2 4" ports using the entire 17" length in a 3.1cuft box yields a tuning of 34hz fyi... otherwise to go lower in tuning ud need to use ur own pvc tubing
