Tline Tuning

Recommended Posts

dude how do you figure out the math is there like a formula you use i dont understand it could you please explain it to me thanks ~will

( 1130 / freq ) / ¼ = ¼ wave length and ( Cone Area / 2 ) = ( X )² x 3.14 = X in²

and u need to check ur maths 1/4 wave for 30 Hz is just over 9 ft. Is it bad to tune it 5-6 Hz over the Fs?

Enlighten me because as far as I can tell my math is correct.

( 1130 / 30.76 ) / ¼ = ¼ wave length 36.73602080624187256178530559168 / .25 = 146.94408322496749024707412223667in

now convert inches to feet

146.94408322496749024707412223667in / 12in

12.245340268747290853922843519723ft (12.245ft rounded) just a bit under 12 ¼ft.

Your math is correct, your steps are wrong.

1130 fps /30.76 Hz= 36.7 Ft. That is right.

Now to find the quarte wave you dont divide by a quarter, that would multiply it by 4. THAT IS WHERE YOURE MATH IS FUCKED. Dividing by a fraction multiplies, multiplying by a fraction divides. So you could multiply it by .25 to get a quarter wave, or divide it by 4, but not divide it by .25.

So i can tell you that simple math tells me 36/4 is just over 9.

Now mr smartass. You have been enlightened. Im pretty good with numbers. Hate to sound concieted but dont fuck with me when it comes to math 99% of the time, im human and make an occasional error yes, but make sure you check your shit and do all the right steps first.

AH yeah I see now. Simply didn't start out with the correct formula. As for the "Mr Smartass" comment I was only trying to help you with your request for help. In correct formula or not ... T-Lines are not intended to be "tuned" they are built according to the subs Fs as far as I know.

smartass was only because the "enlignten me" came across smartassed. That is all. I appreciate your help. You had the right formula for the most part, just mixed up one step. My main concerns are what if the tline is at 35-36 Hz and the subs Fs is 30, and what happens if there is too much port?
