Darksideofsound
ok, I have 2 kicker 12" solo x subs, and the kicker website says for best results in the lows and most power handling I should have each sub in a 6 cubic ft box, so I have my 2 12's in a 12 cubic ft box. I am running both subs at 2ohms off of a kx2500.1. the amp is 2600wrms at 14.4. so lets say each sub is getting 1200-1300 wrms.... where i am not giving the subs what they recommend, should I make the box smaller due to the lack of power going to the subs?? subs are 2500wrms a piece... chill phil
a bigger box is needed when under powering subs, but i wouldnt go over 5 cubes for each. Quote 2007 Nissan Xterra SE Amp: Sub: Box: Electrical: TL Scores:
Guest
their fine. i dont think the solo x's can handle anything over 2500rms daily iirc. the smaller the box, the MORE power you will need to get the same output as a bigger box with less power. basshead4life
here this is from the site and if you use this youll only be underpowering them by a couple hundred watts 3 ft3 (85.0L) + port displacement, Fb=40Hz Port: 45 in2 (290cm2) area x 18.75” (47.6cm) long Power Handling = 1400W Peak Quote Team S.M.D. Maritime Car Audio- (2) 18" SSA ZCON D1 - American Bass 500.1 - 60 ft of 3/0 -480 Ah of battery - (2) stock alternators (70 +90) - Kenwood Excelon x-794, 4v preouts car audio is just a LOT more complicated than "this amp does this power" or "this sub will be this loud". its like 2 + 2 = banana. Darksideofsound
this is startin to get harder and harder..... :censored: :censored: Should I only run 1 sub then at 1ohm, i would be able to put 2600wrms to it, would that be louder(higher spl) than 2 at 2ohms with 1200-1300 to each? Darksideofsound
i dont think. sumone on here said once that theyll blow up if more than 2000 is used on daily setup well they are rated for 2500 wrms, but I'm not sure about daily. I had 1 in a 6 cubic ft box and ran it at 1 ohm for about a month, no probs........ N.S. eh? where u at?
