92f150 Posted July 27, 2009 Report Posted July 27, 2009 i own a 92 f150 extended cab 4x4 and have decided to put a system in it . so i have 2 questions . 1. up intell 97 ford put their rear seats in the xcab on the floor (no space between the floor and the bottom of the seat) so does any one know of a site or place i can get a center consel box for my truck that will house 1 10" , i am looking for the type that the speaker mounts down fireing in the consel so that i dont lose any room . all i can find is the style that is basicly a extension between the consel and the back seat , (ugly and you lose the leg room for a 3rd person to sit in the back) i did find a site that sells them for chevys but they only had the other style for the fords . 2. im leaning toward runing a full soundstream tarantula system ( 1 t5 10" , trx 1000d , trx 440.4 , 6.5 componet , 5x7 2way , all soundstream tarantula for $1200.00 new) is this stuff any good or can i do better for the same amount of money else where . oh and on the box im looking for sealed .
Lowroll Posted July 27, 2009 Report Posted July 27, 2009 Your best bit is to look for a JL audio stealth box or an MTX thunderform enclosure but they wont be center consoles. Your best bet to get exactly what you want is to build it yourself. & realistically, you can do better for the money. I wanted to do all soundstream as well and now im kinda glad I didnt. I have tarantula series coax in my doors & dash and im not happy with them. Current System: Pioneer 6900 HU Front Stage: (for now) Soundstream tarantula 5.25 in the doors Soundstream tarantula 4x6 in the dash Kenwood 400.4 for mids & highs Bass: 4 Soundstream RW-12's 2 Power Acoustik Stax 4000/1D's single chamber box, 2.65 cubes. Currently under the knife being bagged Rebuilding err'thang
CarAudioFab Posted July 27, 2009 Report Posted July 27, 2009 Your best bet is to custom fab the center console yourself, alot of times you can remove structure from the bottom of a center console to allow room for an enclosure, may also be a matter of fiberglassing some molds of the floor and incorporating that as well. I have no experience with Soundstream stuff, but that does sound li. a lot of goodies for only 1200.
