USB drive not being read by HU

My bro just picked up a 8g Patriot usb drive for his kenwood kvt-514 but for some reason it wont read off the HU. Even if i plug the usb drive into my Pioneer HU it wont read, it says error 23. But my corsair 8g usb drive works on both head units. If anyone knows the reason why the patriot drive wont work then it would be appreciated, thanks.

Copy all your files off of the bad drive then go to my computer and right click on the usb drive, one option should be Format. Click that and where it says NTFS click that and look for Fat32. I check the quick format option and hit start. When finished copy it all back to the usb drive and try it again. Hope that helps.

FAT32 may not be able to be read by the unit. The head units I have round here won't read anything but FAT.
