I have ground noise and need some help finding it!

Recommended Posts

To start off I have a JVC KD-AR560 Head Unit and it has three sets of RCA hook up's, front rear and sub. I have my Diamond Audio on the sub connection and my TMA amp on the front. I have no engine noise coming from my subs and I am told its because the Diamond Audio is a mono block amp and cant pick up the higher freq. Anyways once we hooked up the TMA I had engine noise going thru my comp set. Now we ran only the power wire down the drivers side and all other wires down the passenger side. The speaker wire for my drivers door goes from the passenger side of my dash to the driver door and it does cross the power wire. I have read quite a few build logs on here and found some members run there power and remote wires together and I was always lead to believe that was a no no. Anyways we pulled my head unit and plugged the rca's to the rear output and still had noise, then we unplugged the rca's from the Diamond amp and plugged them into the TMA and still noise.

Then my friend got some kind of plug and hooked his Ipod into the TMA amp and at that point there was no engine noise with my blazer running. Next thing we did was clip the remote wire on the back of the head unit and ran a remote from my Kinetik to the TMA amp and still had engine noise. After all this we went to a local shop and tried some type of noise insulator that went into the RCA's that go to the TMA amp and still had noise.

Here is a link to my build log if anyone wants to see the wiring

So we are lost now other than thinking its my head unit and I dont got the money at this time to get a new one. I could really use some help here cause there is a show coming up a week from this saturday and I am hoping to get rid of the engine noise.

As you can see my ground wire is quite short and away from the power and remote wires.

Any help will be greatly appreciated!

you have everything grounded to the kinetik, but you have a tiny ground going to bolt thats sitting on the carpet. i also have a blazer. drill a hole through the floor, and run a new ground down to the frame. metal to metal, not metal to carpet.

I bought my Kinetik at N.W. Audio and the owner told me to run one ground to the Kinetik and then to each amp. I know it looks like the ground is touching carpet but it isnt. I sat there with a straight blade and cut the carpet out and then grinded the paint off so it would be a metal to metal connection. I can try running a new ground once I get the time and my dads tools to do that lol. I am still wondering if its my head unit.
