-Hobby- Posted September 1, 2009 Author Report Posted September 1, 2009 More work on the box. Have it all ready for the last 2 panels. Added some 45's and some bracing. Will finish whats left when its all stapled up and the holes are cut. Have the front and top cut and will finish it up tomorrow. Time for some dinner and a movie. Painted port 45ing
-Hobby- Posted September 6, 2009 Author Report Posted September 6, 2009 Taking a break after working on the truck all day. Got a little more done. Have the kicks all assembled and ready to install. Added some Fatmat to deaden the kicks a little. I also glued the rings I made on the back for a stiffer mounting surface. Gave the screws something more to bite into than just the plastic. I was surprised I had a hole saw almost as big as I needed. Just needed to git the cutout with the sander a little to get a perfect fit.
-Hobby- Posted September 6, 2009 Author Report Posted September 6, 2009 Wasnt so lucky with the tweeters. Had to run out to the hardware store for a 2 inch hole saw. Only sell them with the mandrel too. More money for the store I guess. Finished, drivers mounted with the grill ready for the truck.
-Hobby- Posted September 6, 2009 Author Report Posted September 6, 2009 Been working on the box too. Have the face mounted. The port flush trimmed and rounded over. Cut the holes out for the subs and the second baffle. Glued that down and stapled it all up. Rounded over all the edges and have the holes filled with body filler and drying. I also came to the conclusion that its going to be a while before I get funding for the equipment I want. I stole the Rockford Fosgate T1 15's out of my entertainment center and will run those in the truck until I get the subs I want. Started finishing up some of the missing bracing also. Still have a few more pieces to do.
-Hobby- Posted September 21, 2009 Author Report Posted September 21, 2009 Been busy and slacking off on the build lately. I keep seeing all these builds going on and I had to get back in the groove. I have the box painted but forgot to take a pict of that. Its hammered black now but might change it to flat black after seeing how the speaker grills turned out. Heres a little bit of what I got done the past 2 days. Got my 4 pieces of 1/0 run to the back. Found the grommet Rusty told me about. Drilled 4 holes thru it and ran the cables under the seat to the back.
-Hobby- Posted September 21, 2009 Author Report Posted September 21, 2009 Future fabricator playing with my angle grinder in the background. Poor piece of wood, dosent have a chance.
-Hobby- Posted September 21, 2009 Author Report Posted September 21, 2009 Next was the drivers side Q-Logic kick panel with the 5.25's. The opening for the hood release was a little to small. Used a piece of self stick 80 grit sand paper wrapped around a hole saw and reamed out the opening and used the grinder to adjust it a little bit more. After that it fit perfect. Lenox Uni-Bit FTW
-Hobby- Posted September 21, 2009 Author Report Posted September 21, 2009 Next was the passenger side. Much easier to install, no trimming necessary. So now the kicks are done. I have the tweeters mounted in the A pillars ( forgot to get picts of those too ) Have all the speaker wiring run to the back for the the doors, kicks and the A pillars. Flat black grills I painted for the door panels. Still need to get to the junk yard and find me a set of new front and rear door panels and the rear quarter panels.
-Hobby- Posted October 4, 2009 Author Report Posted October 4, 2009 Going slow but I keep getting stuff done. Laid out the crossovers that are going under the left side of the subs. Drilled a few holes for the speaker wires to come thru the floor mat, ran the wires thru the holes and hooked up all the wiring. Have them all ready to wire up to the amp now. Took a moment and ran my new remote wire while I had it all open. Replaced the old remote wire, used a piece of speaker wire for that one. Looked to fudged up for me to leave it that way.
