Port Size for 2 18 BTL's

Been scratchin ma head and checkin through this section for the last hour, never dealt with subs this big.. From what I read and what I worked out so far, I dunno what the go is haha

Box is about 16 cu ft

Port is 20 x 10 15 Deep 200 sq inches total tuned to 35 hz, what else can I tune it to and what sizes do people recommend?

Running either 2 RF T2000's or 2 4000's, Depends what they handle..

Help would be greatly appreciated.

200 inches is enough for a pair of 18" BTL's.

Is that 16 ft^3 net volume or gross (before port and driver displacement)? If it is net volume, your port length is correct.

They will handle the 4000's if you know how to determine the limits of the system. And you are going to need to make sure you have the SSF set correctly if you run 4000 watts per sub in a box that big. Otherwise, you will more than likely destroy them from over excursion.

Current system:

1997 Blazer - (4) Customer Fi NEO subs with (8) American Bass Elite 2800.1s

Previous systems:

2000 Suburban - (4) BTL 15's and (4) IA 40.1's = 157.7 dB at 37 Hz.

1992 Astro Van - (6) BTL 15's and (6) IA 40.1's = 159.7 dB at 43 Hz.

So best to make the box smaller eh? Exactly how small should I go with these 18s?

If you are going to run 4000 watts per woofer, I would shoot for 6-6.5 ft^3 with 200 sqin of port area.

And if I was to run 4 18s with 4 4000's I should just double what you said ye> Now that I checked up on it I got space for 4 if I make a small box..

They need 5-10^3ft each so I don't think smaller and more subs would work out. Box is perfect for 2 18's and just remember that they need 12-16" of port per ^3ft

Yes. If you can get 6 ft^3 per sub for 4 subs and 360-400 sqin of port area, it will work great.

I think Steve is running his 18's in a pretty small box. . .

Gonna have to spy on his setup a lil more closely :D (Old Setup that is) Might put 3000's on em to be a little safer and do what you said, 6ft^3 per sub and around 400 sq in of port area... Should work out!

Sounds like it will be LOUD!!!
