toad420 Posted August 26, 2009 Report Posted August 26, 2009 So earlyer this summer my kicker 650.4 got a little hot and burnt up. I was a Electrical Engineering student for 2 years so I know a little about the specific components in an amp. I took it apart and saw that it was a piece I haven't worked with before and about 10 of the same one fried. This is a picture from ROE(the amp guts section). I had my friend take close ups that I'll try to post tomorrow but he is having problems with his camera so not sure. Hopefully one of you guys can tell me what these are and if i'd be able to replace them. Thanks, Austin

So much other stuff you have to check... and they probably smoked because an output channel blew and went short (probably without any visible damage to the parts) Without a scope, I wouldn't bother. You can try but it might just blow up in your face the first time you put power to it. 10.x volts fo' life!

I know my electrical stuff and I have access to K State EE labs so I have all the tools I would need to find exactly what parts went bad. To fix a burnt up amp you gotta start with whats burnt. I've just decided its more time than I care to spend on fixing it when I can just buy another. i'm sure replacing these burnt pieces would make the thing blow up..........
