edog Posted September 1, 2009 Report Posted September 1, 2009 Anybody ever tried to use the small distribution blocks in a enclosure so that you can run 1- 4 gauge from the amp to the inside of the box to the block which splits it up to 4-8 gauge.I am gonna run 4-dc audio level4 xl subs and I have these distribution blocks lying around.Would this work or is it a dumb idea? edog Posted September 1, 2009 Author Report Posted September 1, 2009 I would probably use a step down or solder the 4 gauge and grind it down .I was wondering because I have seen a lot of guys run 8 gauge out of the amp and attach it to the bolts on some boxes and run 2 and sometimes 4 times to go to the subs. I would think that splitting 1-8 gauge into 2 or 4 is not efficient. Boon Posted September 1, 2009 Report Posted September 1, 2009 Nothing reaaaally wrong with splitting 8ga. You're talking ~5kw before 8ga starts to get to small IMO. Bolts and lugs, cheaper than distro blocks and just as good. Quote 10.x volts fo' life!
