Mac58
Wassup everyone. Im looking into Battery isolators. Im not sure if they are they are the best route to go but I figured you guys would know. If I'm correct, the isolator 'isolates' the batteries from each other. This is done so that if one battery is pulling more power from the system only that battery will be recharged, versus both of them, improving charging time and over all performance. However I have heard that the isolators dont last that long and dont provide the best option. It seems as if it should work better than just strapping a whole bunch of batts together and charging them at the same time. Currently Im running about 1500 rms off of my factory alt and bat. I have found one isolator,Tsunami PP2001-PT, which seems the easiest to install since I have a optima bat http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_14764_...+PP2001-PT.html. So.. my question is. Is it worth it? Will the battery isolator really improve my situation? Thanx for the help! Rogers
if you use an isolator only the back battery will be drained from the amp(s) and it can only be recharged if the front battery is fully charged.... this makes your chances for voltage drop greatly increase... its not a good idea this is just my understanding of it... someone correct me if im wrong... Guest
absolutely no point in battery isolators unless you play your system with the car off (for shows for example) because it will ruin the alternator to have it charge a very low voltage battery. my 2 cents
Mac58
Ok so what would be the best route to go? Im planning on upgrading Big 3 soon and I dont really want to get a new alt. scottiej
Isolator is not needed, but the thing you pictured isnt an isolator, its just a fancy distro made for an Optima. You can still use that if you want. Quote XS POWER Batteries, Chargers & Accessories 888-4XS-POWER
