TailLights And DashLights

Ok Here is the problem, i bought the car about a week and a half ago (2001 Ford Focus ZX3), and while driving that night after work i realized i had no dash lights so i called the dealership the next day cuz there was no dash light fuse, they said they would fix it, a few days go by and i put my subs in, then the next day someone pulled up next to me and said i had no taillights so i went home found the fuse for that, and it was a 10 and was blown, so i didnt drive at night for a few nights and called the dealership and said the taillights didnt work either and i told them that it was probably a law to sell a car without working safety lights, so the next day i bought some more fuses, put it in, turned the lights on, it blew again, tried all the way up to a 25 fuse and it smelled like burning wire but the DASHLIGHTS AND TAILLIGHTS worked, so i took it out as soon as i smelled that, maybe drove a half a block. so i tried another 10 in the day light and i watched it pop again as soon as i turned the lights on. So i brought it back down to the dealership (an hour away from my house) and said i would leave the car for them to fix it, now they dont want to fix it cuz they said it worked when they sold it to me and that it was the subs that shorted out the fuse, i dnt kno how that would be possible if the subs have there own wiring and fuses, so please tell me what u guys think i should do and i wished i would of made a video before the subs went in.....

thanks for reading....

sorry to hear that, but most of these dealerships will blame any mod for any problem that comes up. Find out about any possible warranty from them, if no warranty, you are kinda....S.O.L. gonna have to trace the problem yourself.

on another note, did you change the deck in your car? and did you have an "ILLUMINATION" wire? maybe grounding out? And maybe even pull out your taillights, check for grounding of the wires....maybe your beat IS shaking the hell out of them...lol.just my cent and a half...good luck with this :pardon:

it was even before i installed the deck, i have a job installing subs at best buy, and every wire is capped and everything but the dealership said the wires are toast, and i have been installing stereos since i was 15 and have never had any problems so i kno this wasnt my fault im just pissed cuz the dealership is my grandmas next door neighbor too

ouy! well, research your rights to hold them liable. go to them, with the understanding of your rights as a consumer, and express that you want this fixed. be honest, calm, and direct. ask to talk to the higher ups and if still nothing, always the better business bureau:)

well its a small dealership, and i only talk to the head guy, he dropped the price on the car from 5g's to 2700 so i bought it with cash, and he was the one who called MY GRANDMA and not me about my cars wiring, so if he does go on and charge me to fix it, that would be illegal because the car is in my name and he did not talk to me about it first, to tell u the truth he hasnt even spoke to me about the problems only my grandma, so tonight before i have college tomorrow im looking up safety laws about selling cars
