yota_oddball Posted September 11, 2009 Report Posted September 11, 2009 So I posted before with the same problem but I am still having pretty bad voltage drop and dimming. I now have a DC 275amp alt , xs power D5100r up front and the big 3 in 1/0. I am running a Sundown 1200d amp which is 1200 rms at 12.8 volts, and I am running 4g from bat. pos to amp and 4g ground on amp(I believe 4g is that max size for the 1200d). I have checked all my grounds with a DMM and my highest resistance was 1.0 exact. My lights dim pretty much every time the bass hits but it is mainly a flickering(even when the bass and volume is turned down the lights blink a little). According to the DMM I am dropping just below 11 volts (from 13.8v) at full tilt and the amp shuts off. I have been told that the alt may be bad but I have never heard of a DC power alt. go bad. I have also been told to run 1/0 to the amp but I think 4g is the maximum size. I have no clue what to do or whats going on so I really would appreciate the help a ton. Unless the DMM was incorrect. Yeah I checked the voltage of the battery and it was at 12.8 which is the same as when I bought it and it is holding charge so... Autozone should do it for free if you don't have the equipment Alright went to get it load tested today at a few places. I got between 450 cranking amps and 475 cranking amps every test. I called XS power and they are suppose to get back with me. That sounds kinda low to me so I would quess that maybe my battery is bad?
