I really want a big box, it will sound deeper, and move more air...and too correctly power it ill just turn the gain all the way down and probly give it 2-3k Quote Ride Stats: 2003 Ford focus Zx3 Hatch Walled System X1 Solo X Kicker 18" "Enclosure: 7.8 cbft, Port Firing Into a Horn, On a 90*" X1 Rockford Fosgate 40001bd "Now a Warhorse On my dresser" x1 0g Big 3 x1 Kinetik 2400 "x4 Kinetik 2400's" x1 Kinetik 1800 x2 Kinetik Special Edition True Silver Battery Terminals x20 Gold Plated 0gauge 3/8 Ring Terminals x25 Total ft: KnuKonceptz Kable 1/0 Silver Pearl* 2500+ Strands. x15ft KnuKonceptz 8 Gauge. -Soon Too Be Walled Fav Quote: They Dont Feal Me, But They Feal Me. Cr@sh
wow i never knew that...but wouldnt my bandwidth suffer? I really want a big box, it will sound deeper, and move more air...and too correctly power it ill just turn the gain all the way down and probly give it 2-3k Your gain is not a volume control, it's for matching your headunit's output. Your volume on your headunit would determine how much power the sub gets. Based on Kicker's specs which are dead on I would go with recommended: http://kicker.com/sites/default/files/2007...20b01%20Web.pdf They recommend 10ft max with 150 sq inch of port. solosickness
still need to know where to measure my rounded port edge at... Too cr@sh ok i can prolly do that, so what do i do make a 10 cube box and then add my speaker and port size the recommend "witch would be less then 10 cb ft"? orrrr do i make my box larger so my total outcome volume is 10 cubes AFTER port and speaker added? this is were i am comfused Edited September 14, 2009 by solosickness Quote Ride Stats: 2003 Ford focus Zx3 Hatch Walled System X1 Solo X Kicker 18" "Enclosure: 7.8 cbft, Port Firing Into a Horn, On a 90*" X1 Rockford Fosgate 40001bd "Now a Warhorse On my dresser" x1 0g Big 3 x1 Kinetik 2400 "x4 Kinetik 2400's" x1 Kinetik 1800 x2 Kinetik Special Edition True Silver Battery Terminals x20 Gold Plated 0gauge 3/8 Ring Terminals x25 Total ft: KnuKonceptz Kable 1/0 Silver Pearl* 2500+ Strands. x15ft KnuKonceptz 8 Gauge. -Soon Too Be Walled Fav Quote: They Dont Feal Me, But They Feal Me. siucsaluki11
on that kinda power i dont think youre gunna wanna go much over 5-6 cubes. How big of a roundover are you making? for a flared port just measure from where the flare starts (where it starts getting bigger as you flare it). Cr@sh
I would design the port on paper first, including the actual measurements for 150 sq inches, co lets say it ends being 15" x 10" by 10" deep well we know that 1,728 is one cubic ft so 15x10x10 =1500/ 1728 = 1.152 so 1.1cubic ft plus whatever the sub displacement is total is how much bigger I would build the box to account for displacement unless kicker already did that. I would call there tech support, it's free and there guys really know there products. Quote My old install at cardomain, never finished!
aznboi3644
498 sq inches would be 498/1728 i belive witch is .288194cf use 1728 divided by the sq inch and you get feet iam almost 100% sure its 1728. i hope so i did all my calcaltions to that number.i dont know about port size i am working on that now with my ported box its hard to get help 498 sq inches does not equal .288 cu ft 1728 sq in in a cu ft12 cu ft before disp and port disp is fuckin BIG something doesnt sound right well round to .3 for speaker disp your gonna use 11.7 cu ft for a SINGLE 18 and port? wrong again....there are not 1728 sq in one cubic foot. go with around 8 cu ft net for the solo...they love big boxes.
