Boon Posted September 16, 2009 Report Posted September 16, 2009 RAID is NOT backup. It is redundancy from hardware failure. If your OS gets hosed by a virus or something your RAID controller will carefully replicate the fail on to all the disks in the array. Partitioning is also not backing up, as mentioned above you may as well just have 2 folders and duplicate everything. Hardware failure = screwed, reasonable software failure = screwed. The only way to properly back up is to an external device that you then remove from the computer and ideally remove from the physical environment as well, in case your computer gets stolen/lightning'd/whatever.
