loburbon
ive messed with some myself and they were loud for what they are, but i have only seen them in conventional reg ported boxes nothing spl wise of anythign like that. in regular boxes the airspace and port are not right for the 8's. those lil guys need a certian box size to not only play at there best, but also for cone control. the cone is so light and they have so much motor force behind them that they tend to lose control. which is why most typical 8's boxes need a loading wall to control the excursion. but after many dealers getting with steve from dd and discussing what has worked best it came to be that a .9cuft box with 20sqin of port enables the customer to build the box and not have to worry about building a loading wall. i had a guy buy 4 1508's and he built his box to like 3.5cuft with only 15sqin of port and he would only do a 140. i helped him design a new box to the specs given and he jumped up and is now doing a 148 with 4 8's. and they are extremly musical. siucsaluki11
Or would this be better? Both come to 2.7 cubes after subs and bracing, 60 in^2 of port, tuned to 37 Hz (kinda funny that to get 37 Hz it needed 37" of port length. This will be going into the trunk of a 2010 lancer. Ive heard from a guy with an 08 or 09 (same car pretty much) that he did well with both setups EDIT: Forgot pic Edited September 18, 2009 by siucsaluki11 Quote woman..cant live with em...cant shoot em...guess were all fucked You might be a Redneck if you use your leftover gutters for a speaker box port... loburbon
some cars like sub back port back, others like sub back port to the side. you just have to test and try it. but both those boxes look good.
