skittlesRgood Posted September 17, 2009 Report Posted September 17, 2009 just use wood glue and screws to build the box. wipe away all the extra glue b4 it dries. after you take off all your clamps, go in and use caulking on all the edges. then get some weather stripping and put it under the mounting ring of the sub so itll make a better seal. put the top onto the box first. its really hard to put caulking on under the sub cut out if you put that piece on 1st. fiberglass is not needed to seal a box. its just something people do thats a little overkill. in fact it could hurt your sealing. if you dont mix it correctly itll crack when it dries. thatll open up all kinds of openings for air. if you use dowels for bracing, predrill a screw hole on both ends to help hold it in place. i like to make indents into the ends as well to help the glue hold as strong as possible. add you wood glue and screw it into place.
