Alright, well I have the dimensions and all that figured out now, but I am trying to decide whether or not I should do a double baffle. Do you guys think I need it? I don't know if I have the wood to do it right now, but I might need more to build this thing anyways...

Say do it right the first time or dont do it at all, no point in half assing because you cheaped out on wood.

I think I may be able to do it with one sheet; I will recheck. Either way I will probably buy more wood so I can A) get this double baffle for sure and maybe build a small sealed box for my old S's for my first carpet attempt and either home use or sale.

good for your type x..... however we are talking about a type r.... and i am stating facts... alpine suggest 1.75cuft net per sub max.... honestly i think he needs to stick to manufactures specs.... vistav6 is having problems with his setup because he refused to stick to specs....

A lot of manufacturers recommend smaller enclosures for their subs to help prevent people who don't know what they are doing from blowing their subs. Typically, subs can handle more power in smaller enclosures, and less in larger. So that means it's much easier to overpower and blow a sub in a bigger enclosure. It's just to save their ass. Also why they recommend 500 watts rms while they can really take a good amount over that.

yeah you can make a nice slot vented box out of a single sheet of mdf... i built my box for 4 of them with a single sheet...
