whats goin on?!

i have a power acoustik bamf 1200/4 pushing my mids/highs... first i had just my 2 6x9's bridged giving each 2 channels of power... i decided to hook up my door 6.5s to the amp. i ran them in parallel and bridged them using the 3rd and 4th channels and the same for the 6x9s with the 1st and 2nd channels...yes that amp is 2 ohm stable... b4 i hooked up the front, i used to put my radio up to 32. now for 10 secs at 27 the amp cuts off but comes right bak on...i have thick enough wire and there's no distortion in my speakers... can n e 1 explain wats happening and y?? thanks

cutting amp at high volumes almost always means too high of a gain setting. whenever you change the ohm load of an amplifier, you gotta retune the gains. make sure your ground is a metal to metal contact. not metal paint then metal.

yea...i turned down my gains at one set of speakers at a time...i may also have to get a separate ground...im usin the same ground as my bass amp :01nocomment8so:

does the current ground have the paint sanded off the metal? most important thing.

yea its sanded...i got a 4 gauge bullshit brand for power and ground for each amp (bout to get tsunami 0 gauge for free )

oh and because of the fact that i changed my ohm load and i now have to lower my gains, does that mean that i wont be able to get as loud?

you could be clipping hard thats why i said turn the gains down since your amp cuts off. i almost guarantee that when you turn the gains down the amp wont shut off

Same ground point doesnt matter. IMO its the better way to do it, you know they have the same potential that way. In my blazer i had a run of 1/0 from batt to back, from the power dist block i had 4ga to my 4ch and my monoblock. Then i had 4ga. grounds from the amps that went to a ground block, and 1/0 from there to the ground.

The wires with black tape are grounds (only had 1 color of wire at my disposal at the time, and it was free.

Im thinkin the same thing. Also did the OP say you had the speakers that were on each chan in parallel? That amp is not bridgeable at 2 ohms, it is bridgeable at 4 though. Its a 4 ch, so why not run each channel to its own speaker. This way each chan. will see a 4 ohm load, which that amp likes. I am willing to bet its more because you are running where its not stable, not that your clipping the signal. So i was with Kranny, but this is my new theory.
