jbondox
man all the best buy haters kind of makes me feel bad for working in the audio department. i am trying to give best buy a better name with the knowledge i have gained from this great site but i am only one man. you Know what i mean I see some of the stuff posted here and if you are listening to them.... BBY is screwed. I am not bashing you on a personal level, but I will be straight up. BBY sells band aids plain and simple. You guys have to worry about every type of vehicle, where I specialize in a few makes. You have to deal with the price conscious consumers looking for the cheapest thing to get them buy, where I usually quote a system that cost as much as a New KIA, and it brings up another point, I have clients that I build a relationship with, you guys have "buyers" in and out and never see them again or follow up unless they have a problem. your techs are "installers" not once are they ever referred to as techs, thankfully because some are just dumb. I have seen some half assed installs from BBY but i have seen many more from the so called specialists... by no means are BBY any better or worse than the "specialists" as a salesman, you have to look at what the future goals are for you, is it a career? Hell no, as you will be lucky to reach middle class financial standards doing it. but lets say you are going to be a manager one day. as a salesman you have to be the authority when they come to you. find their needs and wants, budget and give them a good, better, best solution. if you do not know, let them know you will research it and get back to them, do not BS them. and do it, get back to them! Be professional and dress as you are being inspected everyday by them, as you are. I go in there to get something I see these slobs and think to myself WTF are they thinking... but i know what they are thinking, it is temporary... but wouldn't you want to excel even temp working to a career? be the authority, know as much as you can about basic acoustics, integration equipment, the basics of audio and vehicle buses (IE MOST, CAN, Class2, GMLAN...etc) know your products, know which ones are easier to operate and make sense to you perspective "buyers" sell quality first! and the warranties... they need to be approached a bit differently. let them know that the manufacturer only offers a 1 year warranty but you can extend it to 3 years. I do think the warranty you guys offer is very good for consumer protection and is like insurance for the customer, but I think everyone approaches it poorly. It is there for them, yes it costs money and BBY makes a boat load, but it is there for their protection. Sorry to go on and on... and get off the subject... First because I am a tech for BBY and I always strive to do the best job possible for the customer. Now thats not to say that some of our stores could use a swift kick in the a$$ for the stuff they do. All I ask is that you don't lump all of us together in one big shit soup. I have seen terrible work come from all sources local shops and big chains alike so. As for you problem who ever the hell told you that is an idiot plain and simple the kit for the Mazda6 is expensive but not the 3. Sorry to continue to go off topic its early for me. jbondox
some things are offensive, and I am straight up and am not going to beat around the bush... which is why I said in my post that the specialty stores are also screw ups. as for RE, adire, RE and all the other woofers, do not even bring them up while you are at work, you are being paid, possibly underpaid, to sell what you have. And if I was to over hear that has a manager, you'd be at strike 1, which means you being overpaid. I don't like some of kickers products, they aren't the best as I do not believe there is 1 single manufacturer that can actually say they are the best. it all comes down to application first... then applying it to the installation. Lets just say that kicker is guaranteed to be around a lot longer than the others that were mentioned. it is like attrition, they can afford to lose a lot more money than the others. I would suggest learning your products and capabilities, also how and why they work... IE woofer, tweeter, crossover, components vs coaxial, and even some of the basic specs that really matter as what size enclosure...etc as for the install tech... every one is innocent in jail Quote SMD SuperSeller VerifiedJbondoXJames Shields
Boon
People don't come to a Best Buy to hear about Fi and DC. Either they come to buy some crappy mainstream gear, or they came to be a smartarse little tyre kicker. If they really wanted Kicker, they would go to a shop that sold Kicker. Internet fight! :01nocomment8so: ok "North Olmsted Performance" lets see your build log? why don't you leave "blue thunder" alone. i know him very well and he loves audio could talk about it all day. he knows coaxials and components he sets customers with the best equipment for their budget. just because he works at Best Buy ' mean he doesn't know what he's doing he gaining experience so he can move to bigger better things. everyone has to start somewhere. I've let him work on many of my cars and they all come out great way above the usual stereo shops install. So did anyone ever help the question in the original post? I don't think it was harsh, just straight up and not sugar coated. Today everything has to be a kinder gentler BS tree hugging don't hurt my feeling type of response... which shouldn't be like that... ya know men used to be men... and my responses are not meant to sound like i am going to kick your arse or anything of the sort. they are posted as MY perspective with constructive comments.
