Forevrbumpn Posted September 22, 2009 Report Posted September 22, 2009 My good friend, who has also been a really good customer over the years finally let me go all out on his trunk, the way I felt would work best for some good slappage Went thru 12"s 15s, 18"s almost ran 6-10s, but told him, he needs to get that rear deck torn out, so he did 1998+ Buick Lesabre's are no joke getting really loud, this is my 3rd serious build on them, now I learned the way .... tear out the rear deck, and seal off the trunk completely- still have a few steps to go, but for now, got the majority of it down I built the subs from scratch, needed to build something he will be happy with, and take his abuse. Think I finally got it. The amps are 1-SAZ1500D for now, will be a second really soon, and run them at half ohm each, or 1 ohm strapped Box is 7cf tuned to 40 hz with a guide to direct the bass right in the cabin The guide is adjustable to compensate for pressure, and tuning, the port will also be tuned down after full break in of the subs The suspension is extremely tight, so tight Zmax is 40ohms, while most subs are 80+ohms So what that means is they will see higher power for a wider bandwidth, and a more constant actual rms rating from the amp Anyways, Iam beat, heres the pics from tonite, it still needs to be carpeted, and threaded rod to go thru the spare tire well, and bolt on the guide to the box So dont talk shit, its only 3/4 the way done With 1 amp alone, I hear with the EAR-O-Meter a easy 145+, so I cant wait for the second amp, and to get this thing more secure, and more batteries CC- Your next, I'am free for your build now, sorry for laggin I have a ritual called "terminator". I crouch in the shower in the "naked terminator" pose. With eyes closed I crouch for a minute and visualize either Arnie or the guy from the 2nd movie. I then start to hum the T2 theme. Slowly I rise to a standing position and open my eyes. It helps me get through my day. The only problem is if the shower curtain sticks to my terminator leg. It sorta ruins the fantasy.

I crouch in the shower in the "naked terminator" pose. With eyes closed I crouch for a minute and visualize either Arnie or the guy from the 2nd movie. I then start to hum the T2 theme. Slowly I rise to a standing position and open my eyes. It helps me get through my day. The only problem is if the shower curtain sticks to my terminator leg. It sorta ruins the fantasy.

Have you thought about using the spare tire well for air space to allow more room in the trunk for batteries and amp placements. Something like this! Dont mind the glass work this was just the first couple of layers, think I ended with about 8-10 total. This box has just under 8 cubes and after displacement we have 3.78 per 15, and only used half the wheel well. Could easily get 1-2 more. We have reached some high numbers and have not sealed it off yet. You guys have more pictures? I am tuned into this build for sure.. Forevrbumpn Posted September 22, 2009 Author Report Posted September 22, 2009 yeah, Iam going to talk him in to smaller batteries, because those yellow tops do not fit down there, that was my first option for him But right now, the batts will go on each side of the box before this, it was a spare tire well, fiberglassed for a 18" I built him, but the glassing started to break away, so had to do something bigger I have a ritual called "terminator". We measured side to side and front to back and bottom to top and that got us the total of the wheel well. And of course we had to guess a little on the round parts.. that why I stated it was just under 8 cubes. Not an exact science by no means but I would say we are very close. I am sure there are people on here that can get the exact volume but I just needed close. How did you get the volume Forevrbumpn? You got pics of the 18 box? yeah, it was a really simple box, just a flat false floor This was it stripped down before the 18" ( was dual 15"s) The 15"s from before ^ Went to the 18" ^ I think this one with the 18" I just modified the port to be to small. I just downsized the port from 3" wide to 2.25" wide and was 5.5cf I believe, somewhere around there edit: more pictures next time he comes thru, he drives here from the SF Bay Area, so its a long trip- 100miles each way next time will be mainly just sealing off, sound dampening, box bolt down, and fine tuning the width of the open area in the guide.
