Demo402
How do you determine what fuse amperage u need on the inline power cable? HaMSaMMiCH
However much your amps are fused for, maybe more i.e. You have a MRD-M605 which is fused for 70A(2x35A). Fuse the power wire for +70A. My rule of thumb is 60A for 8awg, 120 for 4awg, and 250-300 for 1/0awg. EDIT: Remember, the power wire fuse is to protect the wire and your car, not the amp. All that is necessary is that the fuse can handle the current drawn, but will still blow if there is a short. Edited October 9, 2009 by HaMSaMMiCH Quote CAUTION! Demo402
So basically get 300a for 1/0 no matter the system? HaMSaMMiCH
So basically get 300a for 1/0 no matter the system? I would go 250 unless you are drawing more and need the extra, but I've seen 300 used without issues. Quote CAUTION! Marlo Stanfield
I would go 250 unless you are drawing more and need the extra, but I've seen 300 used without issues. You got it right here, this is exactly how i do it... Generally like 2500w or less I'll run 250, always judged it off my old Orion 2500D. @ 1ohm it pulled 188amps, so even 250 will give it sum space for a more inefficient amp or the same power or less. Btw i ate me a nice ham sammich for lunch today and it was damn tasty, virginia ham to be exact. Quote 1998 Ford Explorer Eddie Bauer... New setup, old ride... QX56 is staying stock til I get loud... Demo402
How do you determine how many amps you are pulling? Amp manual? Or does it have to be benched? HaMSaMMiCH
To find out exactly what you are drawing you would need to bench it. You can get an idea without actually benching it by looking at how much the amp is fused for, and then fusing the power wire a bit higher. Some companies actually list current draw for their amps, but not all.... Edited October 9, 2009 by HaMSaMMiCH Quote CAUTION! donellk
if im right (correct me if im not =) ) 1amp = 10watts (rms w/e) Edit A 3000rms amp would call for a 300amp + Fuse!!!
