meade916
Oh ya i know its only a measly 100" port but if you count the flare, that 100" opens up 450" wide I know its the smaller one that counts but that just shows how much of the face the port took up having the flares on there. dmz2711
Nice work meade! Keep the pics comin, its great to see the new sh*t that you come up with...."squaro port" thats crazy man.. :oBy the way, what size MT's are those?? also, how the hell did you figure/calculate that port ??? do you figure in the flared part(450") of the port with the length of it or do you use the 100" figure? meade916
Ok heres this weekends work...its starting to look like a box finally. I still have quite a bit to do but im not rushing this i want to do it right. More pics of how its starting to look with now that its officially a Box and not just a face I left the flange wide so i have a place to put the amps on the sides of the box. I plan on fiberglassing it in the rest of the way (the side and top gaps) once the box is all the way put together. If you didnt already know this is one way to build a box from the inside out..get some 2 x 2 and lots of glue/screws. I used Gorilla Glue for most of this portion of the project. When i rean out i went with the Titebond II in other areas as you can see i even did some on the outside of the box. It will give me an even bigger area to fasten the face too when the time comes. Also, it will make more sense what else im doing in the next pics. Quote All SMD products + MORE available at my store here! https://wccaraudio.com/ Subscribe to My Youtube Channel! meade916
Can anyone guess what this is for? Im not sure which of the many speaker design books i have mentioned doing this, maybe it was the loudspeaker design cookbook...im not sure. I Really want this thing to be very "dead" as far as resonanting and with lots of power on those 2 MT's this is what i came up with. heres the rundown, 3/4" MDF, 5/8" Gypsum Board (sheetrock) glued and screwed, 1/4" Particle Board glued and screwed to make a "sandwich" i guess you could call it. This along with lots of bracing which i havent finished yet should make this thing VERY solid and "dead". First i cut the piece, dropped in some Gorrilla Glue then tossed in the screws. Then the next board to make the sandwich complete. Quote All SMD products + MORE available at my store here! https://wccaraudio.com/ Subscribe to My Youtube Channel! meade916
Back wall Now, due to the fact the subs are so close to the side walls, i couldnt make those any thicker from the inside so now the 2 x 2's i attached to the outside come into play. I did the same thing to the sides as the other panels but these are done from the outside instead. meade916
Ok so i had a hardcore scare tonite....a buddy of mine came over and he dont know the first thing about building boxes or beat for that matter. He says, man those holes are close are you sure there is room for both "flanges" to fit there? I went "ummm gulp" "errrr, we better check"......so i paniced and tossed them in just to see.......they barely fit so im all good but damn what a scare! cars sooo damn dirty but oh well it will be worth it when done, im actually starting to get excited about this! meade916
almost forgot, the roof of the box is the only place i didnt use the "sheetrock sandwich".....but its no big deal since it consists of 2 layers of 3/4" MDF and a layer of 5/8" MDF. I had it layein around so i used it! After i do some fiberglass work to the inside of the box it should be solid as a boulder It already is and ive only done one brace so far (many more to come) Quote All SMD products + MORE available at my store here! https://wccaraudio.com/ Subscribe to My Youtube Channel!
