Symmetry9898 Posted October 17, 2009 Report Posted October 17, 2009 What do you guys think it would sound like if you had 4 subs in a box, ported, but with 2 of the woofers facing down like in a downfire box? Would it still rock? Would it still rock? It would look great. The only thing that comes to my mind is cancelation from two subs facing one way. Firing the bass down. And two other subs firing the bass up. 2004 Mustang 3 18s 6 crossfire bmf 1700s strapped @ .5 161.2 db Daily driver 159.4 @ 45 hz 158.7 @ 35 hz 154.4 @ 25 hz Team Hz Addiction http://www.youtube.com/Drek75633

Lowroll Posted October 18, 2009 Report Posted October 18, 2009 It would look great. The only thing that comes to my mind is cancelation from two subs facing one way. Firing the bass down. And two other subs firing the bass up. x2. I wouldnt think you would want to do that. Make them all fire in one direction or something to avoid the cancellation factor. zfrerichs Posted October 18, 2009 Report Posted October 18, 2009 phase the two woofers different than the two facing up Roseville, CA
Decaf Posted October 18, 2009 Report Posted October 18, 2009 there are phase issues when u have speakers on different planes and it would not act like a 6th order at all, lol it would act like a weird ported enclosure with the subs firing down having way more cone pressure
Lowroll Posted October 18, 2009 Report Posted October 18, 2009 phase the two woofers different than the two facing up I fail, I just thought about that after I posted. When I bought my 4 subs the guy was asking me what direction I was firing them bc he was gonna advise me to phase 2 of them different. Symmetry9898 Posted October 18, 2009 Author Report Posted October 18, 2009 My friend was thinking of doing this in a chevy blazer. He wants to put 4 15's in the back of a 4 door blazer and keep all the seats. I dont think there is enough room for amps, batteries and of course the enclosure to face them all up with the port back unless you wall it. I tried telling him that i didnt think it would be a good idea but had no idea about the cancellation factor. thanx for the input guys...
