The Jbl Crown amps have those leds aswell, the harder you clip it so brighter shines the led.. But i wouldnt mind to know how accurate those leds are

AQ amps have indicators in the bass knobs when the amp is clipping.

i would just get a new amp that has it build in already. or who knows next thing you know you will try doing a "Home made indicator" and you fuck up the amp. dont risk the chances. just an FYI!

not tryin to buy a new amp and if i do any thing its gunna be somthin like this http://www.parts-express.com/pe/showdetl.c...FTOKEN=46542380 but only if i find a cheaper one

my bass knob (audioque) for my amp has a clipping indicator.. ive got 2 extra knobs.. one is reverse (max is low, min is max) and the other power led indicator doesnt work, but clipping does.. dunno if you could use it in conjunction with your amp though

dc led on amp driven by a/c but only would light up when you hard clip it.

I read somewhere on here that an amp will show some DC all the time when playing though, that you can't use it to identify clipping.

A clipping indicator or overdrive indicator or however you would like to call it is a complete schematic that must be built within tolerance of the amplifier itself. To my knowledge, there is no plug and play indicator built. Most distortion detection knows the maximum and minimum conditions for a sine wave within the device, and if those definitions change on the maximum side it will indicate so. You could build the circuit externally within tolerance of the amplifier, I am sure that a circuit out there exists. Try the AES, they may have something.

Personally I think it is a bit silly not to ahve distortion indicators on any power amplifier.

Cheers,

Mick
