Okay so the past couple of days when i cold start the voltage it'd go from 15.2-16.6 and the system would not play. i would continue throughout the day and the voltage would read 14.5-15.8 and then the system would play, and that never happened before especially that high of a voltage.....wtf is going on here? also my exterior and interior lights would flicker in sequence with the alternator whines. when i was on my way home, my voltage meter read 12.4 so i figured i better get home and when i got home it was at 12.3 definite alternator failure right?? well heres where i need help, i bought it from my local shop and it has a warranty of 1 year that as nearly hit the half way mark. are they going to be responsible for everything i mean including uninstall of the broken and install of the new? also it is a stinger high output alternator 225 amps... i have never seen this mentioned on this forum do u think i go scammed into buying a crappy alt.?
Guest DC Power Kyle Posted October 31, 2009 Report Posted October 31, 2009 It could be the voltage regulator or other problems that we can't be sure unless we see the alternator to diagnose it. Amps are probably going into protect when you hit over 15.9 volts because they don't like that high of a voltage. I would recommend taking it back to the shop and getting it replaced ASAP because 12V batteries do not like being at 16+ volts... especially AGM batteries.

Iraggi Alternator Posted October 31, 2009 Report Posted October 31, 2009 Sounds like reg went and then diodes went. If they dont take care of it ll see what I can do. More than likely an easy free of charge fix. Iraggi
