drumminian
total port length is 25.75so u would enter 0 in for "square port length 2" i just guestimated them to be .3cuft together but u would divide 243.6 by 1728.... = .14cuft per sub ok awesome gotcha gonna sketch it up in sketchup real fast thanks for the help decaf any ideas on how much bracing I will need? Marlo Stanfield
I'd just have a couple of like 3/4" or 1" dowels, each on going a different direction.. Like one going the width of the box(try to center then as much as possible, that's where the box will be the most prone to flex), one maybe between the woofer(or as close to being), and one more going the depth of the box. As long as it's calculated into the box design then there is no such thing as overkill for bracing. Quote 1998 Ford Explorer Eddie Bauer... New setup, old ride... Decaf
dowel rods take up a negligable amount of airspace so even if u dont account for it together its like .06cuft follow marlos suggestions, front to back, side to side, top to bottom and if u can align them so they can be screwed together and act as one brace u have the best possible bracing using dowel rods
drumminian
ok so I made a mock up out of cardboard and it won't fit in my trunk so i guess building in the trunk isn't an option anymore what do you guys think of putting them in the back seat? port and subs facing forward Quote Alpine CDA-9887 15" FI BL JBL BP1200.1 Rockford Fosgate p142 4" front Rockford Fosgate p1S652 6.5" rear Optima D35 yellow top under hood Big 3 all in a 1997 Toyota Tercel
protocaster69
I had 2 kicker comp vr 12s in the back seat facing forward and it sounded ok.. You can hear everything the sub does tho (being that IMO Kickers can sound kinda nasty..) It wouldn't sound bad... but just something to think about... Decaf
i would keep making a cardboard mockup til it fits then get back to us with what those dimensions are please dont put the box on ur back seat, lol
drumminian
well I "won't" be able to make a box for m trunk the dimensions aren't enough to work with the biggest mock up I could make was only about 4.5 cubes unless I build the box inside of my trunk lol...The opening of my trunk is only 36"x15" max width is 36 max height is 15 and depth is 29" if you can come up with something that will fit in that let me know because I didn't get anything close that would work do you really think it will sound that bad? the cars only a 2 door so theres no real point for the back seats lol so unless I build the entire box inside my trunk it's mostlikely going in the back :/ Edited December 9, 2009 by drumminian Quote Alpine CDA-9887 15" FI BL JBL BP1200.1 Rockford Fosgate p142 4" front Rockford Fosgate p1S652 6.5" rear Optima D35 yellow top under hood Big 3 all in a 1997 Toyota Tercel
