Mosin
Vehicle is a 2002 Mazda Protege ES with the 2.0L. (Stock alt) Alt went out a few days ago, had it rebuilt at a local shop and again its not working. Headlights were dim as hell, Pioneer deck wouldnt turn on etc... What could cause this? It has a shitty Dual 550W max amp in it.. Edit: Sorry if in wrong section Edit2: All these problems started after new Pioneer deck was installed. Edited November 27, 2009 by solo_x18 Quote Derp. rival904
Try a different deck, or a HO alt. Just because it was "rebuilt" doesnt mean the proper parts where used. Mosin
There will be no need for a H.O. alt. That lil Dual amp is the most thats going in there. I just wanna know whats causing it, not how to upgrade. What could the Pioneer deck be doing to the alt/electrical system? It plays and works flawlessly just shuts off along with everything else when voltage dips. Tried diff batts already. Quote Derp.

I really dont know, but the only reason I suggested it was to start the process of elimination Quote 2004 Yellow F150 STX 4x4 Single Cab 2 Yellow DC Power 270SP's Alts 4(and counting) XS Power 6500's 4 DD3515s Supercharged 53cu.ft 4th order blowthrough 8 DD M1b's 6 Selenium 8's 2 Selenium ST350s 154.1 @ 41hz Legal Burp Build Log

Mosin
Could the problem be a loose/slipping/worn alt. belt? Its a 4 rib belt and the 2 outer ribs are gone, and the belt is pretty slick. Quote Derp.
Guest DC Power Kyle
Yeah if 2 ribs are gone and if it's really slick I would recommend a new belt. You may want to look into a new pulley if it's glazed as well
Mosin
New pulley? How would I tell if its glazed? We just put a new belt on and it seems to take the load from the blower/lights. Hopefully this resolves the problem. Quote Derp.
Guest DC Power Kyle
If the belt helped that much then you probably don't need a pulley.
Mosin
Awesome hopefully it works. Don't wanna spend $180 on a new one Quote Derp.
