CaptainzPlanetz Posted December 16, 2009 Report Posted December 16, 2009 I'm so lost as to where people think I'm going to learn so much, my dad is 39 now, and he's been building boxes and installing systems for himself and his friends since he was 16 or so, this system was meant to be inexpensive but sound good, the 12's and tens are in there because the amp runs the sub channel at 4 ohms, running just the 10's or the 12's caused the amp to over heat, I have pics some where of the build up but IDK where they are but I had just the 12's in there for one day before we realized why it was always over heating and cutting out with just the 10's...my point... stop saying I'm going to learn... and what not, and just say what you want me to know... what the hell am I supposed to be learning? You always have room to learn I have been in the Audio Game for about 6 or 7 years now, and I learn new stuff everyday. Even guys like Steve still learn new things everyday in the audio world, and he has been doing it for a hella long time. Also the amp was probably overheating cause when you had only two subs hooked up you were probably running it at a lower impendence than it was designed for, there for it was overheating and going into protect. When you went to 4 subs you were most likely running a sub per channel at 4 ohms so it wasnt protecting. A general rule is to not mix sub sizes unless they are being run off a different amp. So say you are running 15's in a ported box, and the 15's will cover you from 20Hz up to around 60Hz, but you are missing the Frequency's from 61Hz-150Hz, so you get a pair of 10's sealed in a seperate enclosure, and ran off a seperate amp that is low passed at 60Hz so the subs wont play anything lower than 60Hz, this is so you wont have any cancellation issues. But in doing this you will have a fuller sound to your system. So you see there is always more stuff to learn in the audio world, personally I would never run different sized/brand subs off the same amp. dugee81 Posted December 16, 2009 Report Posted December 16, 2009 so each sub is getting 300wrms totaling up to 1200wrms?? have you considered the big three / adding a H/O alt? just questions i thought i might ask, they would help considerably! not saying anything is wrong with your system, i think its cool what you have, and also cool that your dad is into it as well. my dad helped me install a walmart sub in a DIY walmart box off a walmart sony amp, after that he asks why i spend so much $$. but back to the big 3/ H/O alt, it would never hurt to add 'em. but all in all good job! 200a alt. by Excessive Amperage hc800 under hood & 2 Deka 9a31 in rear 1/0awg + big 3 SAZ 3000D HDC3 18" @ 2 ohm

Yeah man, thats what i was saying. Theres tons of ways to improve your system without dropping cash. Thats why i said just learn. 4th order and tline are different types of boxes. You arent just limited to ported and sealed boxes. With a little bit of reading you can start expanding in those areas. Impedence rise is tricky...but can definitely come in handy. search and read up about it. You will notcie how much power your subs "truly" get. Got any questions feel free to pm me bud. IIRC, for that amp each channel is rated at 60Rms per channel @ 2ohms and the Sub Channel is rated at 150Rms @ 4ohms. Link to Specs.
