DylanH
I am going to build a box for 2 type r 12s and I am extreamly new to box building I had a different thread going but that kinda switched to this so I figured I would just make a thread about this..So I would like to do a subs up port back set up unless people think that wont be good for type rs..but If my dimensions are right it will be 38" wide 14" tall 17" deep port dimensions 3" tall 5" wide I was told I didnt have to make this like a port just pretty much add a hole..but according to expo sports box tuning calculator that is 56hz is that good or what should I tune it at.. I hope these dimensions are right but I could be wrong because this will be my first box build but please anything you guys say will be helpful..So feel free to correct me http://www.youtube.c...er/SmallTownSPL 2002 Chevy Blazer Substage: Shhh, its a secret Mids and Highs: Stock-Going to change soon Amp:MTX 92001 Wire:1/0 Welding cable Electrical:Stock http://www.stevemead...__fromsearch__1 I hope she was meaning that to you. siucsaluki11
shoot for mid 30s for tuning. Did you consult alpine like ISO kept saying? Im willing to bet they will tell you a 15" or a 27" port isnt big enough. for a pair of 12s. Im assuming now i have no experience with designing a box for type Rs, youll want a good amount of port area per cu. ft. 27" isnt enough for 2 cu ft. woman..cant live with em...cant shoot em...guess were all fucked You might be a Redneck if you use your leftover gutters for a speaker box port... YOU JUST LOST THE GAMER.I.P. Blazer=========================Last setup was in the 141s on music (37hz) with 2 12s and 1kw in a 4dr blazer.2010 Mitsubishi Lancer DE2 12in Clarions (kept from blazer)HiFonics BRZ1700.1d (at 2 ohms BLOWN) [JBL GTS180X for subs currently 60wRMS x2ch!!!!!! This works for till i get the blown amp fixed] Alpine 4ch salvaged from blazer (currently near death)9887 peerless 7s in the doors and CDT tweeters ran active no speakers in the rearKintik HC1400 under the hood.metered once a while ago, dont remember it...was piss poor compared to the blazer, mid 130s i think....looking to replace subs and amp when i have money. Also idk how you feel about this but Aero's are so much easier than slot ports you could rock 2 or 3 4 " aeros and that would give you enough port area i'm pretty sure
hotshot27
type r's need a lot of port area, the prefabs we have at BBY have terrible port noise. We built a box with about 12 inches or port per cubic foot, and it was very very nice. tuned to 36hz and it makes the whole building shake. Guest
your port tuning is so high because it doesnt extend in the box at all. its just a 3x8" hole or w/e in the box.
