milesmiles Posted December 2, 2009 Report Posted December 2, 2009 I had to strip some wire to plug into the binding posts of my subwoofer. The wire is 14 gauge I believe, and the amp puts out 240 watts. I noticed that some wire strands fell off when I stripped the wire; how many strands can I afford to lose before I either need to restrip some new wire or replace the amp altogether?
AI James Posted December 2, 2009 Report Posted December 2, 2009 in all honesty i dont think anyone strips wire and doesnt lose some strands...losing a few here and there its not going to effect anything , especially since its still going to be touching inside the jacket anyhow.
MXmike800 Posted December 2, 2009 Report Posted December 2, 2009 i know i never really worry about it unless you have the strippers for that wire, every company makes a bigger/ thicker jacket or smaller so your 12 awg strippers may be bigger than some companys 12awg and you may not pull any strands. i would think nothing to worry about
