Settle an argument

Recommended Posts

Me and a co-worker had an argument today. He says it is no rsik of damage to an amp if you leaved it hooked to an extra battery while charging the battery. I would think that this would be bad. Am I wrong?

<--- Just a pic I found while searching hellbound train in google images. Hellbound Train is also my xbox live gamertag and hellbound train is also one of my favorite songs ever. Ive always liked trains and my uncle was a big model railroader but he no longer does the model railroading after being lost to terminal cancer. But with what you were saying it does seem a bit risky as I believe it would be forcing power into the amplifier along with the battery. I am still learning a good bit so anyone feel free to prove us wrong on this subject.

99.9% of the time it doesnt matter...

When I had 36 American Bass VFL150.1's in my Cadillac I blew a couple up. (The gold amps)

I was scratching my head and finally figure the problem out...

That particular amp will NOT handle any voltage over 17.or so.. When I had my charger on and it went over 18 volts i popped some amps. I charged the batts up to 20.8 all nite long with the amps off and had absolutely no problems. It only happened when the amps were on and the voltage was higher than the mid 17's. I had 16 volt batteries by the way.

But in your case.... your charging 12 volt batteries so there is little if no worry about the amps.
