Marine Equipment!

Ok guys so im doing a stereo fix/install on a powerboat and i was wondering what kind of equipment you've ran in a boat and/or outside your house. This guy wants to be able to hear it when he's moving and it goes atleast 90 so its fast and loud so let me know please and once i have equipment there will be a build log to come with it.

my experience with boat audio it focuses more on mids and highs than it does actual bass.. because you really cant hear much when your underway..

do some powerful mids and highs backed with a amp.. and you will be fine..

also some 6x9s in moveable boxes isnt a bad idea.. because he can place them on the nose of the boat if he is at a island docked so people around him can hear and he can place them back in the boat when hes underway.

if he wants some bass while docked then go ahead and install a few 8 or 10 inch woofers around the back seat area.. (if you have some interior pics i can throw some ideas out .. but be sure to include a bass knob so he can turn it down while driving..

i have a 20 foot mirage with sm. block 350 through hull

exhaust so its pretty loud exhaust wise. anyways the old

system was a simple sony wit a ipod jack , 3 pairs of alpine

6x9s, 2 pioneer 12's, a pyramid pbx450px 500watt, a jvc

ksax4302 200 watt. all junk i know , so pyramid ran the

6x9's and the jvc ran the 12's. i received so many compliments

that it made me get on the computer to find real equipment ,

for next summer thats when i found steve . all summer my

boat was the beach stereo . in my sig is what im changing

to. the marine selection kinda sucks. im gonna put my amps

either up under the dash area or build a fiberglass box to

protect them fr. h2o . also the woofers are under the dash area

so they dont ever see h2o either. polks are h2o proof. infinitys

will be on the tower . one thing to keep in mind is the fiberglass

of the boat acts like a box itself. good luck wit your build. mine

starts jan. after we return fr mexico for christmas.

Well im doing a complete system over haul. Bass, Mids and Highs... The regular rockford speakers look pretty water proof due to the inject cone. This boat doesn't see much water anyways i might custom speaker covers that he can use when he washes the boat.. so far there will be 2 12" subs with around 1200 watts and two compent sets and and a pair of coaxials next to the pilot and passenger bucket seats... possibly 4 inch componets so they reallyn scream... all that off an amp then a pair of 6x9's and a pair of 6.5's or 8's off the deck.. the 6.5's will be in the little cabin and the 6x9's will be in the very front of the bow.

money isn't a problem with this guy. And yes in some places the fiber is a box but in some places it open so custom boxes here i come baby.... just an idea of the type of boat im workin on.

except like 8-10 feet longer... the back has more room then this one

honestly as far as subwoofers i would go with a lower power number.. unless you plan on upgrading the battery bank quite a bit..

as a avid boater i know that having two battery banks. one for starting and one for stereo/acc is VERY important.

i would stick with two 12 inch woofers drawing around 700 watts total. aside from the mids /highs and i would go with at least a minimum of five xs3100 batterys.. for longevity because hes not gonna idle his boat while he is playin his music at the party spot i would also tell him to consider upgrading the alternators if they dont already have a high output rate. (which they should) because draining those batterys at the party spot and recharging them in a timely fashion isnt gonna be a easy task

thats the downside to having a loud system on a boat. you have to upgrade the electrical ... it takes a toll on your battery and theres nothing worse than being stuck on the water

I AGREE.. GO CERWIN VEGA i can vouch for their sound quality even at higher volumes and their durabilty plus the dude is probably older and can relate back to the vega days. lol!!! bonus!!!

well he has 4 group 24 batteries already and i can get them switched to group 27 batteries no problem and he wants to play when he's moving.... not so much idle or at a party spot. if he does want to do that then i will go back into the engine bay and secondary compartment and rewire up new batteries and possbily alternator if i can talk him into it.

if he has four group 24 batterys its because theres two for each motor.. (cranking) i doubt theres auxilary bank of batterys considering its a sport boat..

well he already had a rockford p400.4 and some sony 600 watt amp and i wasn't told of any problems and if need be i will get bigger batteries or just alts.... i may step the subs down to a little under 1000 watts. we'll see
