Guest Posted January 12, 2010 Report Posted January 12, 2010 the seald boxes will sound tighter and you will loose the low lows, the ported boxes are louder and "boomier" and get low but dont sound as accurate and tight. you have much to learn young grasshopper. ported boxes arent boomier, theyre louder. its the prefab boxes that sound "boomy". an actual good box sounds amazing
cjvue Posted January 13, 2010 Report Posted January 13, 2010 As the title says. What would you shoot for. given both options have the same amount of power given to them.Been thinking about changing up my setup from 2 12" RF Punch HX2's to 4 12" Kicker Comps sealed. Wondering what you would prefer.. For the ported box: 4.4cft @33hz For the sealed box: 6cft Havent really had any experience with sealed setups so im curious! I would do with 2 12" in port....imo My Build Log- T E A M S U N D O W N A U D I O - 2013 DbDrag WF SS1-2 - 5th Place 154.6db 2013 MECA Mod3 CA State Final Champ 153.4db Powered by: Sundown Audio

EricR Posted January 13, 2010 Report Posted January 13, 2010 really? my low lows are actually louder in my car in my sealed box then when i had a ported box... then your box wasn't tuned correctly. to the OP, its hard to say which would be louder, personally i would stick with ported. i was thinking leave the 12 sitting in the box in the hole and duck tape from the bottom of the sub to the bottom of the baffle so the sub doesnt free air. would that work?
LoudBimmer Posted January 13, 2010 Report Posted January 13, 2010 LOL talk about being budget fucked use your parents credit cards? lol but really, i would stick with ported boxes

Team_DC-Derrick Posted January 13, 2010 Report Posted January 13, 2010 my box was tuned to 35hz, and my car peaked at 41hz, switched to my sealed box and my car peaks at 32hz now.. so my lows to me are ALOT louder...
