All the music shuts off?

My friend had all his shit installed at a local shop about a year ago but now he is running into problems and i can not figure out whats wrong. He has a alpine amp and 2 alpine type s in a pre fab ported box. he has a pioneer nav head unit.

When ever we turn the volume up to about 40-45 all the music shuts off but the head unit stays on. To get the music working again he has to turn the car off and back on again.

What could be the problem?

probably your amp is getting overloaded, and goes in protection. Or you H/U does.

I would guess the h/u since all the music turns off. Is it a bottom line h/u?

make sure he has proper fusing, and check and make sure his volts are not dropping too low, Ive seen this happpen before with a circuit breaker, when it's being overloaded it trips the breaker, maybe the inline fuse isnt liking it

no. head unit is powering speakers.

idk if his its a bottom of the line hu. its a pioneer w. touch screen and navigation.

his amp is so had to get to. idk if i can check for proper fusing.

I had this happen to me a few months ago.

When I bought my suburban it had the current Pioneer mids amp I'm running installed under the passenger seat. When I turned my shit up I'd lose all audio.

What happened was the genius that installed that Pioneer amp had both placed the amp right over the catalytic converter which creates enormous amounts of heat. Especially in a giant ass SUV like my Suburban. Couple that with the dude also had, and I wish I was joking, roughly 15 extra feet of 12ga speaker wire between the amp the floor of my rig. What happened was the heat from the cat was melting that pile of wire over time. It was grounding out and getting shitty. I immediately dealt with it. If this kind of shit is happening, it might something as simple as a deck issue, a bad ground, whatever. But I'd suggest dude disconnects his battery and lets it sit until he can deal with it. My shit was probably a matter of days or weeks from catching on fire.
