Grounding RCA's

So ive heard of people doing this for various reasons and i was just wondering how you do it and exactly what it does?

r u talkin about a ground loop isolator? if so it is to help with engin noise if your rcas are close to power wire

Wrap a wire around the outside of the RCA cable not the inside prong and ground it. IIRC Some Pioneer decks had that noise problem and that was a quick fix for it.

but u dont have to make an actual conection to the wire inside the jacket of the RCAs?

Nope just the outer exposed 'metal' of the RCA end. Make sure the wire in no way touches the inner prong
