EricM9104
So, eyeballing a 96 Explorer, 150k miles, test driving this weekend, if I like it enough, buying it. Almost expecting it to need a transmission eventually, though, how hard could it be to swap out the transmission? What tools and other parts would I need to replace too? New torque converter too? What tools and other parts would I need to replace too? New torque converter too? It isn't bad to swap out the transmission. But I would recommend some universal swivel sockets to get to the upper bolts as well as some extensions to reach them...and make sure you have a jack stand or something secure under the transmission so when you get it unbolted it doesn't fall down.
