AlpineKid Posted January 29, 2010 Report Posted January 29, 2010 Hey I have an alpine type r 12" in a 1.7 ft3 box with a 12" slot, speakers are all alpine type s, headunit cda-9884 and i have the alpine power pack with the gain on "high" so it puts out 45w x4 @4ohms to the speakers according to alpine, when i try to setup the m500 amp for my sub, i have the low pass on 80 Hz gain on .5 volts and the bass boost on 6db, I have searched all over online forums and this site and it states I should not need any bass boost and my gain about half way (the knob) with 0db bass boost my sub doesnt even move even with the gain knob all the way up, which I know is not good/ right. Any help is appreciated I have almost given up on it but the closest audio store is best buy and they are 30min out plus they suck. I got the speakers first, and the headunit, then sub... worked fine.... got the power pack for x-mas and now the speakers sound much better but the sub is :censored: /////ALPINE
alan412 Posted January 29, 2010 Report Posted January 29, 2010 If you are referring to the Alpine MRP-M500 then you shouldn't be disapppointed. I used to own this amp and i can tell you its a little power house! Read the gain setting tutorial on the site and apply what you learn to your setup. Also i highly doubt that your headunit is putting out 45 watts to 4 channels. It's probably more around 18 watts. Lowroll Posted January 29, 2010 Report Posted January 29, 2010 Yeah you are definately not getting 45x4. my 400/4 amp only puts out 38 watts @ 4 ohms so...thats that. You should definately set your gains with a DMM to prevent clipping. are type R's dual 4? Is the amp only 2 ohm stable? I just out a m300 in my moms car & I think it was only stable down to 2 but I cant remember to be honest. Lowroll Posted January 29, 2010 Report Posted January 29, 2010 You realize thats 45 watts/4 channels right? My pioneer deck does 50x4 by itself which comes out to 18 watts per speaker.
