joni13
I wouldn't go under 2.5, but i wouldn't by shy at 3 cubes. These subs like big boxes. Build something efficient and clean. I Have heard several of these subs with 18-20 sq inches of port area and they get low and sound nice! I heard one with around 13-15 i believe it was, and its seemed to be starving for output. Played a high note good but the low note played a little rough. Port noise was noticeable.Try 45ing everything. 45 the bend in the port along with the port wall. For the price i think these woofers are great competitors. They take abuse for what they are rated, and do well at it! Don't be shy at big boxes but then again your vehicle could like it in a smaller box, with less port area. That's the fun of trial and error! lol. We all go through it. Every vehicle is different. What sounds good in mine may sound like ass in yours. You know what i mean. Goodluck on the build! always do 45s resin makes it easy to do RIP The 03 prix! protocaster69
Whenever you calculate the volume is the port included in the box volume or do you have too add it on?
liftedranger08
If u use an online calculator, the box volume is the volume after sub, port and bracing displacements. 2000 White Ford Ranger 5" RCD lift 33x12.50 Mickey Thompson MTZs on 16x8 Mickey Thompson Classic 2s Euro Altezza tail lights 5% window tint Clarion Indash 4 Q Power 15s 1 Sundown 2000 1 DC power 300 amp alt(on the way)-soon to be 2 2 powermaster d925s batteries Second Skin Deadener Highs/mids amp-Crossfire 404 Door speakers-2 5x7 mb quarts and 1 5 1/4" black max up front, stock 5x7s in the rear Soon to Come: Lots of SA-8s 2 Sundown saz 3500s(possible 4500s) 5-7 d3100 batteries custom clamshell BNC 8s for mids undecided tweeters

Will the sub and the few 45s affect my tuning in such a small box? should I make it bigger before diplacement and keep the same port size in order to even this out? liftedranger08
No you shouldnt. Just be sure to round over the corner of the port and put a 45 in the other port corner. Im sure someone else will come in and help me out and make sure everything is right. 2000 White Ford Ranger 5" RCD lift 33x12.50 Mickey Thompson MTZs on 16x8 Mickey Thompson Classic 2s Euro Altezza tail lights 5% window tint Clarion Indash 4 Q Power 15s 1 Sundown 2000 1 DC power 300 amp alt(on the way)-soon to be 2 2 powermaster d925s batteries Second Skin Deadener Highs/mids amp-Crossfire 404 Door speakers-2 5x7 mb quarts and 1 5 1/4" black max up front, stock 5x7s in the rear Soon to Come: Lots of SA-8s 2 Sundown saz 3500s(possible 4500s) 5-7 d3100 batteries custom clamshell BNC 8s for mids undecided tweeters

liftedranger08
I'm curious what the difference of a port area of 45 tuned at 35hz and a port area of 70~ tuned at 35hz is... Typically ppl use around 12-16 sq inches of port per cubic ft. 45 is about 15 per cube and 70 is about 23 per cube. Im not saying 70 is too much for about 3 cubes, but most ppl use around 12-16 per cube. 2000 White Ford Ranger 5" RCD lift 33x12.50 Mickey Thompson MTZs on 16x8 Mickey Thompson Classic 2s Euro Altezza tail lights 5% window tint Clarion Indash 4 Q Power 15s 1 Sundown 2000 1 DC power 300 amp alt(on the way)-soon to be 2 2 powermaster d925s batteries Second Skin Deadener Highs/mids amp-Crossfire 404 Door speakers-2 5x7 mb quarts and 1 5 1/4" black max up front, stock 5x7s in the rear Soon to Come: Lots of SA-8s 2 Sundown saz 3500s(possible 4500s) 5-7 d3100 batteries custom clamshell BNC 8s for mids undecided tweeters
protocaster69
Is there any reason? does the area of the port have an affect on the output? does it make the box less efficent?
