EclipseChris Posted February 1, 2010 Report Posted February 1, 2010 i have a 4 channel amp that is 2 ohm stable stereo but not mono for channel 1 and 2 i have a 6.5 and a 3.5 speaker parallel (2 ohm) each channel for channel 3 and 4 i have one 10" sub (4 ohm) each channel i guess my question is; if i put a 4 ohm resistor in parallel with the subs one: would that actually bring the impedance down to 2 ohm and would the resistor just blow after a hit? i want to lower it because right now each sub is getting 200 rms at 4ohm but the speakers are getting 350 rms because they are 2 ohm any advice is greatly appreciated i resolve to be a nicer moderator. Guest Posted February 1, 2010 Report Posted February 1, 2010 never heard of this "concept" but dont do it. just leave it the way it is or just get another amplifier for the subwoofer.

dragon breath Posted February 1, 2010 Report Posted February 1, 2010 that will not help you. the amplifier would have to make more power but it would not get to the subwoofer. the resistor would absorb the extra wattage. ( thats what they are made to do )
