AA Havoc Box Design

Recommended Posts

Ah

umm, i wasnt really sure of any other box designs for an 18...that i like atleast

any other ideas?

Well, when the port shares one wall with the enclosure, it creates more drag as the air enters and leaves the rear-end of the port. You probably won't notice unless you have a meter or are putting a lot of power on the sub, but there is a difference.

Maybe move the port over a few inches? Put a 45 (not 90) degree bend in the port? I have lots of ideas, but you have to figure out what your application needs.

you need to make sure your port area is in the port area range, or your going to get port noise.

Nothing wrong with your design above, except the port needs to be longer to get the correct tuning. Changing the port from 10" long to 17" long still leaves you with 8.2 cuft and the correct tuning. I run all of my 18's in 6.5-7 cuft and they sound great.

Driver displacement can be estimated at .25 cuft. That will be close enough.

If you want to go with Aero ports, (2) 6" is plenty for a 18" Havoc. That is 56 sqin, which will work fine. Aero ports do not require as much port area as a slot port.
