I would not recommend using that birch from lowes. The only birch good enough to be used is cabinet grade birch and I don't believe thats cabinet grade they sell at lowes. Your local lumber yard should have it.

i was thinking leave the 12 sitting in the box in the hole and duck tape from the bottom of the sub to the bottom of the baffle so the sub doesnt free air. would that work?
